Bree Girl
Bree is a highly work-oriented dog, needing no treats for reward. Her drive is to please, which is one of her greatest assets.
“I get up in the morning, put on my boots; I open the door and there she is waiting at the step, watching intently to see what I will ask her. She is not looking around at everything else – she’s watching me to see what I’ll have her do.” – Josh (family member and trainer). Bree is the type of dog that pays very close attention to body language – often needing no verbal command for a task – just the movement of your head, eye, or hand. She retains her training, drawing on it for new situations. She is highly attentive and tends to assimilate the details of her surroundings.
Bree is primarily used as a working dog moving, catching, or blocking livestock on our farm (Hogs, Cattle, and Poultry). We bought her as a pup and she is now five. Has been indispensable for efficient farm management!!
As a family “pet”, she has been ideal for our family. That dog will play all day long if you let her, totally thriving on the attention. “Hide and seek” is a favorite. She can air and ground scent you – which we’ve used for finding lost livestock. These dogs can be trained very well as they have natural instincts.

Bree's personality is very affectionate, and seeking to please! If she displeases you, she knows it! Bree will grin, curling her lips up, dropping her head, and squinting her eyes – nose extended to touch you! You can’t stay upset too long! She has personality and brains! Even small things like: You can be horseback riding and something odd happens like your hat flies off… You just stop the horse and call, “Bree, my hat! FETCH it!” She’s not drilled in that situation but she retrieves it, jumping up on her hindquarters to pass it up! Different situation, different needs… she thinks and tries to figure out what you’re asking. Again, for many jobs, she does not even need vocal command, a motion is enough.

Eugene
Eugene… He was a long awaited addition to our farm last year (March 22, 2014). He arrived as a two month old. A very family oriented, affectionate disposition with a personality that wants to help! He is one of the fastest to run to the work site and a happy companion on the trail. By no means lazy!
Eugene is an excellent student! That dog tries to understand, and he retains what he learns. He is alert, agile, FAST, and very easy to handle. In action, he exhibits adequate force to accomplish the task at hand without being over aggressive. He seems to have exceptionally good judgement in this area whether it is the bull or a 3 day old baby goat! Eugene is just a classic English Shepherd with the watermark traits of his breed.
This dog is excellent with baby animals! Very gentle with them, nudging them in the right direction and using the position of his body to shepherd them. He likes to keep them together, not wanting them wandering off. We actually were able to photo shoot him with some of our baby goats as he was exhibiting this part of his nature. (It was a pleasant accident!)
Eugene presents a very masculine, noble appearance and is growing out to be large like his mother and grandparents. We love his tri-color and he is out of a tri-colored sire. Eugene is now a proven sire himself of: tri-colors, reds, and fawn marking. See his babies on the "Past Litters" page!! He will be the sire of both our purebred English Shepherd litter and our English Shepherd Cross litter ( ¾ English Shepherd x ¼ Rottweiler) .

About the Breed
English Shepherds are a very old heritage breed descended from the shepherd lines of England and the Southern parts of Scotland. These dogs were selectively bred for the primary purpose of HERDING in an upright, loose-eyed style, as well as versatility in HUNTING and GUARDING (livestock and children). Through the years they have proven to be a very all-purpose breed, able to handle the rigors of farm work. The watermarks of their breed have been: loyaly, being level-headed, responsive, and VERY intelligent. These dogs do not seem to require kenneling from the livestock and are practical for the farmer/ rancher.
For us, they have been indispensable as a working dog and family pet. Our English Shepherd Crosses have been the best of both worlds where size, personality, and brains were combined (English Shepherd x Rottweiler) We are very excited about our 3/4 English Shepherd 1/4 Rottie cross!!!!!
